I avoid prescription medications whenever possible, but my doctor recently insisted that I start taking 2 blood pressure lowering prescriptions. The prescriptions weren't working very well at lowering my BP, and her solution was to keep increasing the dosage. Yet the maximum dosages were having barely any effect, and my BP remained consistently in the 160s / 90s for the following four months. Since she was pressuring me to add a third medication --- which I really didn't want to do --- I began researching options to control high blood pressure with more natural approaches. I learned about beet root's BP lowering qualities and decided to see if it would work for me. After just a couple days of taking just one beet root capsule, my BP dropped to the low-140s / mid-80s (while still taking the prescription as well). Over the course of several weeks my BP continued a gradual decline is now consistently in the neighborhood of 115 / 65 and holding. I'm considering adding the second beet root capsule (the recommended dosage is 2, but I'm currently taking one + bp meds) to see if I might be able to discontinue the prescription meds altogether. I really loathe taking prescription drugs, particularly when there's an effective non-drug alternative.I decided to give the beet root capsules a try based upon quite a lot of reading about their effect on blood pressure, as well as the accounts of other reviewers in regard to beet root's effect on BP. Adding my experience to the reviews just in case someone might find it to be useful information.
